Default Roland Cutter vs. plastisol

Hi,
I am just starting out and need advice. I was planning to print my own designs and heat press them myself but I now realize most of my designs are too intricate to cut around. Some of these designs have text as well. My question is, should I invest in a roland vinyl cutter or have plastisol transfers made? I have a Mac Book Pro and use Illustrator for my designs, is the roland cutter compatible with macs? Are there any drawbacks to using a roland?

Thanks,
Carol

The GX24 will work with Mac ...I think I recall seeing a mac setup in mine. But for what you want..sounds to me like you should look closely at Plastisol

sounds like you know what you need to do. look to plastisols if you tend do design alot with alot of small intricate negative spaces.

it's probably more cost effective to start by buying plastisol transfers and apply as sold. then maybe use earnings later to get a plotter.

You'll probably gain more valuable experience to make the best plotter purchase down the road.

the GX24 is nice, we just got one to replace an older summa and it's great.

If you arer going to do designs with intricate work and more than a few colors I would go with plastisol.

The Roland cutters are compatible with Mac. Sort of. They have a minimalistic plug-in that works with Illustrator.

Thanks for replying prometheus, most of my designs have more than one color so I guess Plastisol is the way to go.
