Default odd "j" shape when starting a line

Ok, new to vinyl cutters... thought i might post this up here and see if anyone has some thoughts.

Basically the cutter isnt cutting straight lines when it first sets the blade down. additionally its making some odd excess "teeth" too. I have a hard time describing it so i took as close of a picture as possible and pointed out what im talking about. luckily, i have another letter someone else made - same logo but in black:

Im using a Graphtec Ce5000-60 with a blue 09Ua blade... offset is set to default, speed is 25, force is 13, quality is 1. I have tried +1 offset, speed at 20, quality at 2, force at 12 and 14..
I tried it in the included ROBO Master Pro software (which is horrible btw), currently using adobe illustrator cs2 with the plugin.

can anyone point me in the right direction?

-Dana

i extended the blade one notch .1mm and i'll reduce the force a bit to compensate. i think maybe the blade wasnt out enough to rotate correctly. i'll post up once i test it to see if that solves the issue

oil the plunger & clean out the blade holder. It may be binding in there. black plastic housing cover is removed in the picture. You can access the plunger with the cover on by manually holding the blade down.

ok, added some marvel air tool oil - drop into the plunger shaft and a drop around the bearings in the cartridge...it "clicks" down quieter now but otherwise that didnt seem to do anything. i think its gotta be a software problem. Wouldnt it want to cut the O in one smooth motion? its cutting the top 1/3 and then coming back around and cutting the bottom... even on the W its got a tooth on one side where it didnt start at the tip/point it starts and stops mid way down.

I'll keep pluggin away at some options till i find my mistake.

Oh, sorry i didnt mention this before - this is all brand new equipment and first time using it
