We are currently running a screen print shop, and outsource our printed signs and vinyl. I would like to bring it in-house and would like to buy a printer & plotter combo for faster turnarounds and flexibility.
Uses we have for it will be:
Full Color Diecut Stickers (circles, squares, etc)
Decals
Foil cutting for apparel
Flock cutting for apparel
Indoor posters
Full Color Outdoor Signs + Posters
Banners
etc.
Questions I have:
Can you laminate inkjet printed vinyl so it doesn't bleed or fade outdoors? Can the laminate be applied on the same printer+plotter?
Can a printer+plotter apply Spot UV coated ink on certain areas only?
Is there a special outdoor ink (solvent ink i think?)
Do printer plotters allow to use indoor and outdoor ink at the push of a button?
Will all plotters cut thicker material like Flock or Suede? (or do I need to check specs of thickness?)
I'm looking at a 60" wide Encad NovaJet 850 printer+plotter brand called Encad Novajet, is it reliable and great prints (I'm used to great prints with Epson printers, so curious to know if it's among the same quality)? I see majority of forum members using Graphtec and Rolands... Thanks!
