Re: a review of 8 different custom plastisol transfer screen printers - samples followup
I receive my Roland GX-24 from imprintables.com today and the set-up and test cut was just easy and simple.
When I try to do the import and image to my cutstudio for heat press, and then on the image outline when I move the pointer to dark I dont get the fine contour.
Also if I have a white color inside the image how do I darken them so I only have to cut the outside image.
I use jpg for my image on halo..

I've been trying to find another program that does a better job of giving a sharper outline. When I use text it does the same thing making the edges ridged when I need sharp edges.
When I saw this demoed, it is not a precise tool. When they did it, it created cut paths inside the image as well, they just selected those and deleted them. The reason you are getting the jaggies it looks like, is that the image is a jpeg and has some "artifacts" in it. Becuase of the jpeg compression, especially heavily compressed images, they crete these "boxes" in the image. Sometimes it is faint and barely detectable. But if you mess with hte image, they come out. All this tool is doing is turning the image into a B/W bitmap image and then upping the levels. Pushing anything above 50% towards 100% and pushing anything below 50% towards 0%. It could be done in any graphics program.

I have the same machine. I use corel X-3 the trace feature. Its a little more work but the results are better and easier to manipulate. Try fine tunning the image before you bring it in to cutstudio. Use brightnes and contrast maybe try making it a black and white image,,,, they image you have looks easy enough, i would try corel,,,, if you dont know anyone who has it i would give it a try for you,,,lots of luck
John, I have Corel X-3 and I only know basic on it. I don't know how to do a fine tuning on it. I really appreciate it if you could teach me how to do it.
Also on my Corel X-3, I don't know why I cant export the image from Corel to CutStudio. Do I have to uninstall the corel and reinstall it again?
Alot depends on how complicated the image is and how clear it is. If you select the image you will see a buttom called trace image. It will open up a window, and will show the image converted to a vector on the right side. You can use the slide controls to adjust how much detail (more or less nodes) You can also go to the color tab and edit, merge and delete colors. There is a slecetion to remove the background, i use that because it helps reduce the amount of nodes. Once you hit ok it will put the new vector image on the screen, the from there you can either make it all black using fill and outline or pick and choose how the image looks.
You can either cut and paste the image into cut studio or install the plug in that Roland has it you just click on the Roland icon and it will open and bring in the image to cut studio automatically
