Default Craft ROBO and Illustrator problem

I am working with Illustrator 8 and craft robo. If I create registrations marks on the illustrator file with the craft robo plug-in, I can place the shape anywhere in the "safe" cutting area and then go to settings, and everything is fine - if I am going to cut something that I have printed out. However, I want to cut vinyl and so cannot use registration marks. If I create a shape and go to settings, the shape shows up in the craft robo window in the bottom left hand corner of the screen regardless of where I place the shape in the illustrator file. I have searched and searched and cannot find an answer to this problem. Any help would be appreciated!

Your artwork will show up in the lower left hand side of the preview window by default. By artwork I mean just the objects that are going to be cut. It will likely have no correlation with the sheet -- if you make a box in the middle of the page, it will be aligned at the edge in the preview.

This has never been a problem for me but to get around it I think you need to select the 'use document origin' option. That should place the cut objects where you expect them to be.

Is "use document origin" in Illustrator? I am unable to find it (v.8). I did figure out a work-around to the problem. I printed registration marks and a large rectangle on a piece of copy paper, cut out the large rectangle with the craft robo and removed it. Went back into illustrator put in the design I wanted to cut on the vinyl, staying within the large rectangle. Placed a piece of vinyl on the carrier sheet where the large rectangle was removed. Because the registration marks were still on the "frame" of the copy paper on the carrier sheet, it worked great.

It's in the plotter driver window. I'll check exactly where when I get home tonight.
