Default How to correct mistake vinyl prints

Can we remove the Vinyl from the Tee or is it lost forever?

Acetone or buy the solvent from Stahls that's made just for that reason.

I think Beacon also carries the solvent from Stahls.

Good luck!

As a screen printer, I don't really do a lot of vinyl. I have done some jersey numbering though. I don't know of any effective way to remove larger areas of vinyl. I have the misprints to prove it. you might try to cover it the way a tattoo artist covers an old tat.

Good luck

Try the remover, you can get it from beacon graphics. If you have the patience try heating it quickly then carefully scrape the material.

If you try to over lay two vinyls you will probally get some unsightly bumps as well as an imprint of what you were trying to cover up.

The remover may get it off (it's hit or miss with that stuff), or you may damage the shirt in the process using it (color bleeding, stains, too much adhesive let in the fibers, etc.).

Either way, even on a $5 T, it's less costly to just relegate your mistake to the rag bin and grab another blank. The only time I'd even mess with the remover is on expensive jerseys. Too much time, effort, and risk involved to save T's with it.

A heat gun will warm the vinyl up enough to peel it right off.

Keep the heat moving around. Use a weeder tool to catch an edge and peel.
When the vinyl hits about 300 F it will come right off. Don't burn the shirt!

The only problem now is the glue that remains on the shirt.

I've put the shirt back in the press and covered the design with regular copy/printer paper. Press for a normal cycle (302F for 20 sec., Med pressure) Let the paper cool just a bit before you peel. Most of the glue will stick to the paper. If you cold peel, the paper will tear off and leave fuzzy bunnies all over your shirt. (Hmm, paper flock) Not a good thing, better to peel warm, NOT cold.

From here, you can press new vinyl, or use a chemical to take out any stray glue.

I spray acetone on the back and wait a few minutes and the design will peel off..... JB
