Default Roland Stika SV-15

Hey guys,

Im looking into buying a cutter, mainly for vinyl and heat transfers.

I would love to buy a GX24 but dont have the funds to do so.

I have found the Stika SV-15 which does contour cutting of printed images. Has any one used this cutter before and how is it? Does it cut transfer paper well? and also i think i read somewhere that u have to line the cutter up manually with the crop marks, is this true and is it hard?

I have found this cutter retails here in Australia for AU $1,150 from sign essentials in Brisbane which is close to home for me, has any 1 in Aus found a cheaper price?

Thanks

I have one and it works great. I hven't had a chance to use the print/cut feature yet. Yes you do have to manually line it up. You also need to have "Carrier" sheet to cut transfers. They are cheap to buy.

I haven't used one myself (I've been meaning to get one), but I think it sticks to the transfer paper and acts as a protectant for the cutter (so the blade doesn't cut all the way through) and holds the paper together. Regular vinyl has a clear backing that helps hold it together. The cutter only cuts the vinyl on the top layer.
