I am using a Roland GX-24 cutter with CutStudio, running on WindowsXP. When I go into Cutting Setup | Properties and click "Get from Machine" and then click "OK" to save the settings and exit, the software freezes. It has done this intermittently in the past, but now it is happening nearly constantly.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the driver and the software, rebooting, and changing the USB cable. Nothing seems to help.
I'm not sure what else to try. Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
madmax,
check to see that you have the latest version. Go to Help/About. The latest CutStudio is version 1.26
Our software engineers in Japan are always testing the software and updating any glitches they find. We always have our users keep current with the software to make sure they have the latest it has to offer. To get the latest version, try the support section of our website or give support a call 888 273-8895.
Thanks for the advice. I apologize for not replying sooner.
I did install the CutStudio v1.26 download and still no luck. The puzzling part is if I can go to Settings | Printers and change material size there, I can save and exit without it freezing. But those settings still don't carry over when I view them through Cutting Setup in CutStudio.
Also, I can view the Cutting Setup values in CutStudio and exit without it freezing as long as I don't make changes. But if I make a change, it's now sure to freeze when I try to exit.
I've been looking for a fix to this exact same problem all night with no success.
I've had this problem on windows 2000 and also on XP. All latest drivers and software installed... i don't get it.

johnny,
We've seen this problem a number of times when other USB devices are installed, from desktop printers to USB wireless internet cards. Try removing all other devices and see if the problem persists. If it does, give Tech Support a call and they can help you troubleshoot it over the phone, 888 273-8895
I am located in Australia, is there a phone number I can call in Sydney?
Thanks,
John
(also, will this problem ever be fixed? it is rather an annoying bug...)

You got my brain running with other devices maybe conflicting or causing an issue.
I quickly went into device manager and disabled some problem devices (you know the ones with yellow exclamation marks) and it now works fine.
I hope it doesn't come back >_< because it has always seemed to be a very intermittent kind of failure for me for the last 2 years on both my old computer (windows 2000) and my current XP.
