Default cutting vinyl direction

Using a USCutter Refine 721. Right now the software is SignGo. Was using the signCut X2 that came with it but find it to be less worthy than the SignGo so far in my newbie learnings.

When cutting out a design or text which is better way to cut. ?
The length of the vinly or the width (taking into account the width is wide enough for the design/text). ?Right now I have a 24" wide SpectraII yellow roll in it.

You may want to check the width, I believe SpectraCutII is a 19" roll. Other than that I've never noticed a difference in which direction I cut as long as it is under a pinch roller I cut it either way.

If you have the room cut by width. if not cut by length. What you want to do is watch what your cutting because of waste. If you cut a 15 inch x 6 design on a 19 inch roll that leaves you 4 inches of waste. Not much to put a design on. If you cut ling th then you would cut 6 inches wide by 15 and have 13 inches left. Try to figure the best way to gang designs to avoid waste. Lou

I agree with Lou.

The best way is the one with the smallest amount of waste. i switch all the time depending on the design.
