i have the versa camm 540 and Im not sure what you are asking..

we have our 540 networked in to our system with a regular network cable.. if that helps. lol..

I think he is refering to an uninterruptable power supply like on a computer. What happens if the power goes out while ccutting a design? Will it reset and have to start over...wasting the design that was being cut? On our embroidery machine, if the power goes down...we can resume from the exact stitch without it reseting...this without a UPS. If the cutter resets...and you worry about losing the material/design...yes I would put on on it. Not to mention that they protect from surge also.

aww otay.. lol. I was having trouble figuring out what UPS stood for..
(duhhh).. we dont have have one on ours.. but then again our power has never gone out.. when uding it either.. and yeah.. if power does go out we would have to start over..
