hey guys. Again, i know this isnt a sign forum but how much would you charge for a 5 color 41" x 32" sign. They used their substrate. I was thinking around $120? Too high? I used Oracal 651 vinyl.

First off I would of used cast vinyl for a permanent sign and without seeing what all it involved I would be hard to give you an estimate of what I would of charged.
Was there graphics in it and did you install the vinyl at your shop or on location, if on location, how far did you travel and how complex was it to install?
no for some reason that post didnt show on my computer until after my second post rodney. As far as the sign goes they just needed one to last 3 years so thats why i chose 651. everything was done in shop and they will pick it up.
$120 is not high if not too low depending on the complexity of design. It would have helped if you attached the picture. 651 material is perfectly fine for most signs as it has a warranty of 6 years of outdoor use
Be careful when using someone elses substrate especially if it has been painted. Some paints gas off pretty bad and your vinyl will be laying on the ground. I would never guarantee vinyl on their substrate. I'll put it there but if it comes off it's their problem not mine. The 651 is fine , some will only use the cast vinyl but my customers will not pay the price for it so I always use a 6 yr vinyl and so far nobody has had a problem (4 yrs and counting). The substrate is what will fail first, paint about 3-4 yrs plastic 3-5, aluminum will go for ever or 10 yrs whichever comes first. But if they don't buy it from me it's not my problem from day one.
Its really hard to to give you a price as to not knowing exactly how much vinyl is actually used.. also without knowing the complexity of the design and how hard it is to weed
I agree with the above post on using the customers substrates.. Part of the main problem comes in with that vinyl will not stick for long on latex paint.. So if they painted it with a latex.. it the vinyl will curl up and fall off.. It needs to be a gloss enamel for the vinyl to stick well..
If its not a painted surface make sure they know how to prepare the surface.. we always suggest that the customer wipe the substrate down really well with rubbing alcohol and a LINT FREE CLOTH.
tell them to not use things like windex (it has silcone in it and can cause the vinyl to fail).
