Is there an easier way to price vinyl? I just finished reading a post and it confused the crap out of me. if i can get vinyl for $26 for 24" x 10 yards how much would i charge the customer for a 20" x 20" logo on HIS t-shirt? There will be 2 colors. Any helpers out there today?
Remember t-shirt "vinyl" and sign vinyl are 2 different kinds. I pay about $35.00 for thermoflex plus 15 inches by 5 yds (15 feet) for t-shirt vinyl. So you see how much more t-shirt "vinyl" is compared to sign vinyl.
Now imprintables I can get Spectra Cut II 19 inch by 5 yds for 33.75 plus shipping and I do alot of 9 inch wide logos so I can get 2 out of the 19 inch compared to only 1 with thermoflex plus.
2 color 20" x 20" I would charge around 17.00 if he has the design already in cuttable format. Shirt "vinyl" is too expensive to do huge graphics with IMO.
The price of the vinyl ($4) is small compared to the cost of labor. You can't just take the material cost x 2 and come up with a price.
You will spend 15 min. pressing and peeling 2 colors,
15 min. loading and cutting 2 colors,
15 to 30 min. creating the art and a cut file,
15 min. talking with the customer to find out what he wants.
Good point John. But you also need to have a good, balanced, and reasonable price, especially when the customers are not coming in. Your time becomes cheap when you're not doing anything.
