I am doing this and it is working out fine. You'll want to also look at some transfer/imprint suppliers. The best 2 imho are
www.transferexpress.com Their workbook and their $49 start-up package is great. They are easy to work with when you want to use their designs. The other one, and I really like these people for working with your own desings!!, is
Howard Sportswear Graphics They are quick and very reasonable when you submit your own artwork.
Getting involved with the schools and the different teams is profitable. I started as a home-based embroidery and added a heat press. Now, 75% of my business is 1-color heatpress stuff. I'm looking to add a versacamm to add reasonabley priced color imprints. I love the look of embroidery, but heatpress is paying the bills. PLUS, it is a great time to go to the school and/or games and see just how many people are wearing stuff purchased from you

. It's not 100% yet here, but I'm on the hunt for it.
