Are there particular designs you are looking for?
Did your plotter/cutter come with vectoring software?

If you have a scanner, or any image that you like, you can run it through your vectoring software and create the design from that.
Or, you can edit the images, layer them and manipulate them anyway you want. Then, import them into your vector software.
Most of what you are doing with the cutter/plotter is dealing only with the outlines of your images and weeding them for pressing.
Or, create the design (a star, oval etc) in your cutter software, add some wording in the center and print.
One way to think of it is like the pumpkin carving tools. If you have access to one of those kits, scan the template into your software, do some manipulations and print... Instant Halloween shirts!
