Hi all,
I am trying to get going with as little outlay as possible. There is a Germany company selling a Secabo press and cutter package for £755 (thats about $1450). Has anyone out there ever heard of the make and can tell me if it's any good or if I would be throwing my money away?
Many thanks
Thank you Rodney!
I know you guys all rate the GX24 and I wish I could get it for that money but over here in the U.K. it is twice that price. It wouldn't help to buy it in the U.S. either as I would have to pay postage, and U.K. tax when it arrived.
I can get a Craft Robo at a resonable price, what do you think?
Initially I am just planning on doing slogan tees and as all the kids over here wear black and black and black I need to be able to cut white vinyl I think.
Lynn
just wanted to know how you're getting on with the Secabo heat press. I too am starting from scratch...there was another guy from the UK on the forum who has purchased the same as yourself and is very happy with it.
Hi Sammyspud,
Glad to here from another bod in the UK, and to hear that you mate is OK with that kit. I didn't go for it in the end. I was too worried about an unknown brand. I was dithering for ages and the jumped in with both feet. This is what I got.
Cutter - Creation Pcut 900 from Asaprint on e-bay for £340, then spent the next ten days having kittens that I had done the wrong thing. When it arrived and I got it set up I had to 'phone the guy a couple of times and he was very good (big sigh of relief) and got me up and running. It's big, if I lived in a terrace I would have had to move out to accomodate it!
Heat Press - Couldn't stand the stress of another e-bay purchase so went for a Stahls Sprint heat press from Keani - a reputable dealer and a lovely lady. It was £499 plus Vat plus postage plus vat on postage, so was almost £600. It's 11" x 15", but I can trade it up if I feel the need. (Sods law says that my 1st sale was to a guy wanting size 3XL! I have just this minute done it, 7 a.m. Thusday morning. The t-shirt bug has bitten! I'm usually in bed at this time.)
Software - SignGo - still on a thiry day trial and have mixed feelings.
T-shirts - Wholesaler Ralawise - went for Fruit of the Loom and could only afford one colour, went for black. The boy's ones are great but I thought the girl's one's a bit skimpy and thin so also sent for some Gilden. Going to sell them as 'Skinny Fit' and 'Comfort Fit'.
Vinyl - Just got white for now and Ralawise do that in 5 or 25 metres. If I want smaller quantities or flashy stuff I can get it from Jani at Keani.
Web Site - not there yet! Got a quote from a guy for £500, which was reasonable, but the head boy at my son's school is going to do it for me for £210. Just got to wait while I get some money from sales 'cause I am all spent up.
Having the time of my life, and only here because of spending weeks reading what all the t-shirt forum chaps had to say. Love them all.
Hope that helps you in someway.
Good Luck!
Lynn.
Hello there...its good to hear that you got your equipment. I took possession of the cutter this am. Oh my gosh...I cant believe the post lady could get it out of the van, mind you the base-stand seems to be the heaviest bit. I think I just put my back out trying to lift it, and im off skiiing tomorrow. We got our cutter from ebay roughly the same price as yourself. I have just had time to check its not broken.
I'm hoping my press will be here before i go today, but it's mid-afternoon now
We have ordered coral draw for the software, so I guess ill see how that goes. There is so much advise on this forum i think we should be ok. I must say the price for your website seems really really reasonable...are you having a shopping cart with your website?
Im getting all my shirts from Pencarrie for now, I went to the Printwear & Promotion exhibition at the NEC in the Midlands, it was very interesting. We met up with some people at Pencarrie, they were really helpful and gave us lots of sample tshirts and had some sweatshirts sent to us on our return to check colours and textures etc.
I have to head off now, but good luck with your tshirt adventures, let me know how you get on.
