Question Info About printing on Vinyl

I'm completely new to vinyl... I have a cutter on the way, can't wait to get it! I've been trying to read this whole site in the mean time!!

One thing I'm still not sure of is about is printing onto vinyl and then cutting out the design with the cutter & pressing it onto the shirt. I've read some stuff about this sort of thing but I found it confusing... I'm assuming this only works with special vinyl made to be printed on, am I correct?
Also, does any of it work with a standard inkjet printer or would I need a special printer? If so, what works best?
Last... does the design hold up well this way, like is it comparable to how an inkjet transfer holds up?

I don't think you can do t-shirts with a printer cutter. You can however get a cutter with an optical eye and cut tranfers done on whatever paper for darks you use. Heres a link to a printer cutter to look at if you want.

I think can do t-shirts with a print and cut syatem on a special vinyl that comes in rolls for such a purpose. I think with the older wax ribbon printers and the new versa camm print and cut systems. I think its possible but dont know the exact materials used or the specific application techniques.

PM Josh at imprintables he should have an specific answer.
