Using Omega or Signlab software with Roland GX-24?
I have a GX24 cutter and use the Cutstudio software that came with it. Is it possible to use other software with the cutter like Omega or Signlab, or is it proprietary to Cutstudio and/or the Illustrator plugin?
Re: Using Omega or Signlab software with Roland GX-24?
For simple starters, I don't see the GX24 in the plotters list in Omega. So unless Omega 3 has included it, looks like you'll have a hard (or impossible...) time installing it. Personally, I don't like Omega's output options. I can't comment on Signlab, haven't tried it.

My main issue is doing complex layouts, and often I get a "xxx has a bad format" message on perfectly good files, so I'm looking for another solution. I'll give signlab a try, and see if it works better than the CutStudio software.

Yeah..that bad format thing. I used to get that too..then I realized that I would have the same .jpg image opened in another program..ie fireworks....microsoft image viewer thingy. Once I closed those..I could open the file

EPS and AI files in compatibility 7 or 8 should get rid of the bad format problem. CutStudio can't handle elevated postscript.
