Default Screenprinting tshirt with thermoflex on top

So i've been doing some screenprinting tshirts and some designs are pretty detailed so i didn't go through the thermoflex route but did add some thermoflex text and some details on top of screenprinted tshirts... and wondering how well they would hold up? i've never tested this and just figured it should stick on well to plastisol ink... But then again i could be wrong... so what are you thoughts? So basically cutting corners here and making a detailed design and instead of making 3-4 additional screens for subtle colors i add thermoflex... Cause i believe screenprint lasts longer then thermoflex so when the Thermoflex eventually peels then i'll still have a detailed screenprinted design.

Default Re: Screenprinting tshirt with thermoflex on top

I've attached a photo of a print we did last week. (My camera takes horrible pictures, sorry for the bad quality.) This is a left chest print and is a combination of plastisol and ThermoFlex. The screen's stencil had all the graphic except the name, that area was intentionally left blank. We printed all of the shirts that way and then came back and put each teacher and student's name on with ThermoFlex. This worked like a charm.

Are you asking about putting ThermoFlex directly ONTO cured plastisol? I've never tried that but it seems that it wouldn't work very well. I think you'd want to experiment with that.

You seem convinced that ThermoFlex is going to wash out or crack or peel. I've wash tested ThermoFlex (and Hot Mark and others) on my own clothes and if you apply it correctly it's going to last for the life of the shirt.
