| GX 24 Poor Cutting: Rounding corners, etc. My GX-24 has turned on me and was wondering if anyone could help. I send my files to the cutter from Illustrator via the CutStudio Plugin.
I am sending crisp text in the same way I have for many months, only suddenly my text is distorted (see below).
Any ideas? I have gone back to factory defaults.
Below is a photo of my problem. The top text is what I sent to my cutter, and the bottom is a scan of what I actually cut.

| Re: GX 24 Poor Cutting: Rounding corners, etc. Wow, that's pretty bad. If nothing changed, then all of a sudden this happened, then maybe a communication error? Cables, etc. I would check to see if all cables are connected tightly. I can't imagine it being a dull blade because the o's are the same. So it's information that is being sent and not the hardware. At least that's my guess.
Plus you may want to uninstall and reinstall the software.

| Re: GX 24 Poor Cutting: Rounding corners, etc. So...I downloaded the latest plugin (1.3.4) for illustrator and reinstalled and restarted. Disconnected cables, reconnected them and nothing has worked. I have a new blade and a new cutting strip. I made sure everything was tight. The rollers are rolling smoothly, etc.
What is perplexing is that I agree that it appears to possibly be a communication error since the 'O's are the same, but then when I cut the test directly from the machine, it too is not precise.
I have spent quite a lot of time with Roland (giving the complete story and then being transferred three times). We are going to try a firmware update tomorrow. Perhaps that will help. ??
As an aside: I'm a bit disappointed with Roland because I told them I would need a box to ship this to them if we couldn't resolve the problem, and they said they would have to charge me to ship the box to me. In addition, it would be my responsibility to pay for shipping the cutter to them. I told them I would expect for them to cover all shipping charges as it is still under warranty. We'll see how far I get with that if the firmware update doesn't work.

| Re: GX 24 Poor Cutting: Rounding corners, etc. wow thats harsh on their part..at least they should cover the return shipping of your unit from them and all other fees should be covered by them since it's still under warranty just like what you mentioned.and why would you pay for the shipping fee of the parts needed when im sure they already have it in stock, then if not its not your fault.you're still under warranty so wtheck.
and yes it could be a communication error or it must be updated with the latest firmware, but even so it shouldnt look this bad..
but it could be anything else so its better if you have it shipped to them and let them have a look at it and get it fixed.

| Re: GX 24 Poor Cutting: Rounding corners, etc. Yeah, I think the only other thing would be the firmware update. Hope it works out for you. | |

| Re: GX 24 Poor Cutting: Rounding corners, etc. Has anyone else heard of issues with Snow Leopard and Roland? I'm scratching my head, because I don't think that the problem arose when I upgraded to SL, but then again, it's possible.
Is anyone else using Snow Leopard and experiencing this problem? Or are you using SL and everything is working fine?

| Re: GX 24 Poor Cutting: Rounding corners, etc. VERY VERY interesting. I quit Illustrator CS3 and launched CS2 and everything seems to be cutting correctly. So...I will pass this information along to Roland and see what they have to say.
