OK. I finally got the Corel plugin installed and figured out how to create my design in Corel and send to CutStudio. Only now it does not detect the print marks that I printed when I printed the transfer on the Epson 1400. What am I doing wrong?
The best way to print/cut with the GX-24 is to do everything in Cut Studio. You can generate the design in Corel or any other graphics software but the cut line, printing and cutting all has to be done in Cut Studio.
Once you bring your image in to Cut Studio and have it sized, click on "object" and "image outline". This box is where you get the cut line. There is a slider on the bottom that will adjust where the cut line will be placed. Once you have it set the way you'd like it, click "Extract Contour Lines" and then "OK". Double check the contour lines that are placed around the design.
To get the registration points to show up, click on "File" and "Print & Cut". This will put three registration points on your Cut Studio screen - two on the bottom and one on the upper left.
You're now ready to go. First, make sure you have the correct printer set up under "File" and "Set up the Printer". If it's correct, you can just click on "Print".
Now that the design is printed, load it in to the cutter the same way it is on your computer screen - with the two dots at the bottom of the page when it is loaded. Click on "Cutting" and the magic starts. The eye will come out, find each of the registration marks and get to cutting.
Adam,
Thank you for these details. Quick followup newbie question: How do I load the 8.5 x 11 paper with design into the cutter? Do I use a carrier sheet? (not sure of terminology) And where do I buy such a sheet?

Thanks again.
It depends on the paper you're using. If it's an opaque paper, you should be able to load it without a carrier sheet. If it's a light paper, you'll have to put it on a carrier sheet in order to cut it. Reason being the clear layer on light transfer paper usually isn't thick enough to be able to cut just though the one layer and weed away.
You can use Illustrator or Corel Draw to Print and Cut on your roland GX24 with the plugin. I know for Illustrator, it adds an extra palette and you can click the crop marks function to automatically add the crop marks.
In addition, you can export paths from Illustrator to CutStudio which may make the tracing of cut lines a little bit easier as the tracing in CutStudio is sometimes not that great. Although CutStudio does great cutlines 90 percent of the time or you can edit the cutlines easily in Cutstudio.
