Default Thermo Flex

I need some help to understand what I am doing wrong with my Thermo Flex when I lay it down on a t-shirt. It seems after 1 or 2 washes that the edges from the shirt are coming off the shirt. I am not loosing all the letters but maybe 10 percent.

I am placing the shirt in the heat press for 10 seconds to get any moister out of the shirt and allow it to lay flat on the heat press.

Then I place the design on the shirt and press the shirt at 350 degrees for 30 seconds. The use a pad to make sure the design is locked into the shirt and pressed for another 20 seconds.

Then i allow it to cool for and take off the backing.

Can anyone see if i am doing anything wrong. Or what to look for.

That seems like a long time to press. For thermo plus it only needs to be 330 degrees for 18 seconds. Also you might need to increase pressure.

Take the backing off hot after the first press and use a teflon sheet for a short second press. I think you are over cooking it.

I agree. It does seem like a long time. A misconception is that the longer a transfer is pressed or the higher the temperature, the better results you'll get. In reality, the application instructions that come with the transfer is what you should stick to. Transfers are tested at any number of time, temperature and pressure combinations and the best results of those tests are what you see on the tech sheets.

Also, make sure you are using the right vinyl for the fabric. If your fabric is nylon, the regular Thermoflex isn't the right vinyl.

Yes, I use it and that is way too much time. It is only like 325-330 for 15-20 secs
