Default Effective Pricing, Anyone?

Well, I have been reading all the pricing methods and i can't find anything that really works effectively to be honest.

I have graphixcalc software but i find it not effective as well with pricing seeming too low or way too high no matter what.

I have a versacamm 30" i'd like to purchase and i currently do cut vinyl.

For cut vinyl i usually do vehicle and window lettering and charge by the PSF and then add a install charge on of $60/hr.

To those with Versacamms and other print/cut machines, what have you found that works well for pricing?

My friend who has a versacamm charges $.05 Per Square Inch unlaminated 3164 oracal vinyl which i believe is too low.

Thanks!

Default Re: Effective Pricing, Anyone?

Pricing is more of an art than a science. The goal is to charge as much as the customer is willing to pay more than once. I used to own a franchise print shop and wasn't pleased with my pricing software. Eventually I figured the exact cost for every job that left the shop for two months and found the software was actually pretty good and my understanding of the true costs of the business were out of whack. Once I understood the costs associated with my business I was much more confident with my price quotes, was able to turn away bad jobs and appreciated the good jobs and good customers even more.
