please please remember the tax is you use pro world - they do not send as samples so your $299 order (to save shipping) will cost over £100 in uk tax - payable to the delivery company TNT UPS etc before you can collect it
my tax bill was £147 which i was expecting to be under £100 but they add it onto the complete amount (which includes the shipping & handling - although free - still shows as a charge on the invoice)
The Transfer Press in Devon order transfers from the U.S. Don't know how the tax or delivery costs works out as I believe they order in bulk every 2 weeks.
Target Transfers have a stock of ready made transfers but they are a very limited range.

i have not found a uk supplier
There must be something wrong over there as the tax the delivery companies are charging you is way over the odds of what you should be paying. You seem to be paying almost 100% on the total cost of the landed product.
I've just ordered from Proworld, so I'll let you know the tax when it arrives
The Transfer Press do import from the U.S. but you have to order a dozen of each design, whereas with Proworld, you can choose your own quantities.
I used to buy from Pro-World, their stuff is excellent. I used to work on twice the transfer price to import them. i.e. If I ordered £100 worth of transfers it would end up costing £200. Still a healthy profit to be made!

Maybe try printing your own? I found the 'big company' designs a little 'tacky' and not very unique as everybody is using them!
I am now printing my own designs, and all from information gained from this Forum Now there is some serious profit in that!

Shucks Phil! I should have known there'd be a glitch in there somewhere
I just can't see small businesses being able to replicate the type of transfers that are sold by Art Brands, Proworld and the likes, even if they know a smidgen about Screen Printing. I have to agree with you though, about the 'tacky' feel. We seem to always get some kind of 'hand' though.
You were reeling me in for a minute there though Phil
Hi Phil,
Do you know who sells the release papers in the UK?
Hi Ino,
You could Google 'Union Ink' and find your local distributor. Mine stocks it and I have tried it but if you want to keep your costs down do like I do and use standard 'greaseproof' paper for 'Hot Split' transfers or 'parchment' paper for 'cold peel' transfers. I buy it on rolls of 15 metres.

Hi Lee,
My answer to Ino above may help a little. I use Union Inks to which I add Unions Unilon Adhesive powder to guarantee adhesion to the shirt.
It's been a steep learning curve (again) but this is the most 'cost effective' way to decorate shirts I have yet used. I have passed some of the savings onto my customers which has helped by increasing sales
I hope this helps.
