Hi,
Are any of you UK people doing dye sub and if so do you use 35% /65% cotton/polyester Ts? We import these into the States but not currently to the UK and we wanted to know what sort of demand there is here for them. Anyone using them, like them, not like them?
Thanks
Its a small market sector governed by the type of end user which is typically people needing small qty for private consumption. i also have looked to wholesale these in the UK but feel the market is too small to warrant the investment.
I'm based in the UK and have started a small t-shirt printing buisness.
I'm always looking for different t-shirt colours with 60% poly and max 40% cotten.
I know Vapor Appareal do some colour t-shirts for sublimation printing but I'm looking to expand my colour range.
Can you let me know your website for your t-shirts and if you would delivery to the uk?
Thanks
I doubt you will find a great selection of sublimation t-shirts better than vapor...you can't print white so therefor the colour of shirts is always going to be limited...the darker colour shirts you would really be limited to printing only dark colours onto...and probably single colour prints such as solid black, as light colours would not show up on the likes of navy/maroon/bottle green etc. I didn't realise how expensive vapor clothing is...

Is it only sublimation printing you do?
hi there. thanks for the comments.
yeah Vapor blank t-shirts are about £6 each = $10-11US.
quite expensive compared to blank cotten t-shirts.
I've noticed there are polycotton mix fabrics coming out for sublimation..but still, very expesive for one t-shirt!
not so good when you make errors everyso too!
only just started a t-shirt and quirky design company....would love learn and do screen printing but dont have the work area, start up money and expertise on it the now....maybe in the future.
Would also love to get a DTG printer but theyre mega expensive too.
Opps, Got my sums wrong...i ment £6 for each t-shirt print (yeah works out about £4.50 for the back country vapor colour range)
do you work with sublimation and screen print?
every looked at sourcing stuff out to india?
always wonder if i can order small amounts.....since big companies can sell printed t-shirts for under £10 and still make money.
how much do you sell your t-shirts for to the end customer?
Mine range from £8.99-£10.99. I don't use sublimation...not keen on the fact i am stuck using only t-shirts that accept sublimation, and also the costs are pretty steep!
With regards to sourcing t the likes of India, i doubt you will get anyone taking low orders...Many will have a minimum order quantity, and dealing with countries where there is a language barrier, esp if only on MSN/email is a complete waste of time.
I sourced a factory in pakistan and had them produce some samples for us, since i had heard this company were pretty large and well respected. I waited 3 months for samples to arrive, and then found that the samples were stock samples and not bespoke as what we had asked for...A complete waste of time and money, but i'm glad it was only a few samples and not an entire order.
If you were looking to source abroad you have to go out there and visit the factory, check the quality/materials used, and explain in person as to what you want...otherwise you will end up with problems!
I sell my tees about £16 to cover the costs.
Yeah, its a bummer, the big draw back to sublimation is the limited colours of t-shirts available...and it cant be on cotton.
Think i'll leave the sourcing out idea...dont want to risk time and money on rubbish orders.
I just print when orders come in...so I'm not wanting any large quantities.
So do you screen print, vinyl or just use iron on transfers?
I was thinking about getting a Vinyl cutter...think thats the next cheap and space saving option for cotton t-shirts.
Hi LazyRobot,
We have 65/35 poly cotton Ts which we import into the US (we're based in the UK) and we could send these to you but the delivery costs might be too high to make it worthwhile. You can also try Xpres in the UK who have the Subli T range, not bad value although they are quite heavy. They are very good for sublimation as they are a special knit with the cotton mainly inside and the polyester outside which enables the sublimation colours to come out very bright. Our US customers prefer our Ts to the Xpres ones because they are lighter and a more modern shape.

thanks Lola,
whats ur web address for your t-shirts? so i can check out your goods.
your right...the xpres t-shirts are quite thick but by far better than vapor basic white (which are way too thin and cheap looking.)

Hi...are you actually from the UK and here now? and you import shirts 'from' the US to the UK, or you export 'to' the USA from the UK?
i dont seem to follow. Are you an actual supplier/distributor of this shirt or do you just bring them in for yourself from a supplier? And are they only for sublimation? what are prices???
We import the 35/65 shirts into the US and sell them via Bisque Imports in N Carolina who supply the PYOP trade. We are a UK company making a specialised fabric paint called Paint Me which is also sold via Bisque Imports to the craft trade in the US. So far we have not imported our own label Ts into the UK because demand is not high enough. We would like to bring them in if we were sure there was a market for them.
We don't sell our own label Ts to individuals usually although you can buy them from www.kidsblanks.com. They are not on their website but they sell them for us. The are branded Paint Me.T hey are lighter than the Xpres Ts, longer in the the body and the necks are lower and the neck knit is thinner than Xpres. The closest shape to ours is the American Apparel classic crew neck T.
