Smile Newbie help please

Hi all

Found this site recently and it seems great, gleemed a lot of info that people share, thanks.

I am just in the process of starting a T shirt business, I have some unique artwork designs, some designs i have total copyright to, this will of course supplement some simlar designs perhaps to those on the market place. All I am trying here is to be a little bit different.

Struggling a little with the basic a bit, so need your help.

Have purchase some gear from someone who was giving up, inlcuding a Senko heat press. I am not sure if it is right but the bottom platten has a wooden sheet of ply wood firmly fixed, i presume it is like that from the manufacturer, anyone any experience of this press who can confirm this. I think its their 400 swing away model, no numbers on the machine itself anywhere only the name Senko. I have been told you place the rubber like sheet over the wood, just seems a bit strange, and not sure about the quality of press I will get.

If I was to look for a new press, any suggestions, have seen some on ebay of course, but always a bit cautious, and advice, or bargains you have spotted.

I presume after that I will just have to experiment to come to terms with the cutter, transfer paper, and press. There does not seem to be anyone about who gives training in this, or am I wrong, if you do know of anyone, particulary who is in the Staffs/West Mids area let me know.

I reckon thats enough of my rambling, and I hope some of you can help.

Thanks for looking

Kind regards

Phil

Default Re: Newbie help please

I wouldn't advise using ebay to buy a press, it would be a case of buy cheap, buy twice,
They are Chinese imports and are supposed to be very poor quality.

We spent£850 on a press and looking at the build quality it will last many many years.
