Default Help regarding printing of a T Shirt

Hello,

I am very new to this and was wanting a little help. I am looking to get some one off T Shirts printed (initially). The designs would be full colour and and I would ideally like them to have an all over print to the front and cover neck line and rim at the bottom bellow the stitches if you see what I mean. I would also like them printed on the thin short sleeve fashion style shirts.
Sorry if this is all a bit vague but I have no idea really. If anyone has any idea that would be great.

Thanks

Andy

For an idea of price you need to give quantities.

Some of the things you are talking about will have high set-up costs so not really viable for short runs.

I suspect that dtg would be your best bet for 1 offs although I don't know if you can do allover prints with dtg?

Other than that you need to find yourself a screen printer that does allover printing (more than likely water based/discharge for your fashion look and for printing over collar & seams etc) and has a minimum of 1 item, but your probably gonna be looking more like 50-150 items min.

Maybe October or Monster or shirtysomething or someone else on this forum could help you?

Lucky you
These are the kind of jobs which make me dive down behind my shop counter!
As has been said above, even if you were to supply your artwork (in the correct format) set-up costs on one-off shirts with that kind of detail is going to be expensive!
I agree that DTG is going to be the best option.

Oh! And welcome to the Forum.

That's just as well as it will almost certainly cost well over £100 to make the screens alone. for full colour, maybe much more for oversized printing.

I've seen designs like this before and it appears that they are printed before the shirt is made, you can tell this as the design continues past the crease at the bottom and a small part of it is visible on the inside of the shirt.

Hi All, Thanks very much for all your help. With regard to file formats and what not I am quite confident I could supply them in the correct formats. I work in graphic design/reprographics for a living and have done work for silk screen etc before. From what I have read it sounds like DTG would be the way to go. Is there anywhere you would recommend that would be happy to do one offs? Thanks again for all the help.

You will need to Google 'DTG T-Shirt printing' for your area or scan yell.com again in your area.
You WILL find in your search that you will find Companies advertising DTG printing but they don't actually have a DTG printing machine (they sub the work out!)
With your requirements you really do need to be talking to the guy WITH the machine, who will be able to discuss limitations.
I hope this helps in some way.

Phil

We have a brother DTG printer and the max print area is just under 14" x 16" which is the platen size and not quite big enough for 'all over' printing. Not sure what the print areas on the other machines out there are, I don't reacall anything bigger when we looked into what machine to buy.

Hello there, I don't see any problem with getting exactly what you want if you would go to t shirt printing businesses where they pretty much let you decide on overall outlook of your t shirts. Just find printers where they can do the full colour that you like. maybe this can help T Shirt Printing - UK Screen Printing Specialists

i'm looking into the same thing for some designs and the best option i can find is a large DTG print but not quite a full size overprint of the t-shirt. the printers i enquired with were unable to print reliably over the seams & neck. to give you an idea though, the price i was quoted for a relatively small print run of 50 x each design was £7.50 per print - so i'd guess if you can find someone who will go truly oversize then it might be a bit more than that.
