Default Got a new heat press today!

Hi Guy's,
I got myself a new heat press today!
I had been relying on my chinese imported clam press for too long I had bodged it up a couple of times and managed to get 15 months of commercial use out of it before I realised how important my heat press was to me and my business!
So major investment time
I now have a sparkly new Adkins Beta Swing Away with a 38 x 50 cm platen.
You would not believe the difference to the old chinese beast!
Now i'm a firm believer in starting out on a budget, I did. But if I can offer any words of wisdom here, when you can afford to invest in good commercial equipment, do so!

Phil

sounds good Phil, how much did that set you back? branded heat presses are much much more affordable in the US than here so it's not as easy!

Only £971.75 with the V.A.T I'm told it should last a while though

Sounds good, i was looking at one of the Phoenix Phire ones the other day, very tempting to get something i know i can rely on. For us its also important to get one which will be reliable for our future business such as auto open.. hover etc.

Thanks Ruchi, a lot of money I know but I weighed-up my options as the Chinese press was drawing it's last breaths!

1) Buy another cheap press and face the same situation in another 15 months.
2) Spend more money on a piece of kit I rely on!

Decision made

Was the chinese one a clam shell?

If so, how are you finding the difference?

Hi Nick,
The Chinese one was indeed a Clam Shell and 38 x 38cm.
The Adkins is obviously a Swing-Away press so straight away you notice the accessability But you do need a lot more room to opperate a swing-away press.
The platen size is also an issue with the Adkins, great that I am going to be able to do larger prints but I may yet invest in a smaller platen for day to day work. More money
I am currently busy experimenting with making my own Plastisol Transfers so I am looking forward to producing some BIG prints to put on t-shirts for Christmas & next seasons designs
I've only been working with the Adkins for a couple of days but it certainly feels like your using a piece of commercial grade kit!
