Default Help starting out ...

Hi guys, I'm a complete noob to anything to do with sublimation, I'm looking to purchase a whole package, press (combo) printer (with bulk system?) cutter ... err, and anything else I might need, I've got about £1000 to spend (but I'd also need some stock!), so any help or guidance would be much appreatated, I had seen one on eBay from Dom Global, but after a few reviews, I decided perhaps to stay clear, and ask some people who know a little more about it where I might best purchase my kit ..

Many thanks in advance
Andy

PS: I'm based in South Yorks if there's anybody local I can see.

What type of t shirts are you selling?

We started with a £300ish investment.

1 craft robo cutter (£120)
1 second hand chinese press (£120)
20 or so shirts in a mixture of colours (£60)
£10 worth of vinyl.

For every shirt we sold we were able to buy 5 more blanks. And now we have built up to having stock of some 600 shirts and upgraded to a Graphtec ce5000-60 cutter.

Just a bit of info for how you can get the most of your money.. .

The company where you buy the sublimation printer give you all the hands on training - it is a great help to get started

But where's the best place to buy from within the UK ? I'd want a combo press, so it does t-shirts, caps, mugs, plates etc etc .. and ideally want a package where you get the printer too...

Thanks for all the info, found most of it very useful ... update, I've just purchased a couple of D120 printers (new from fleabay) .. Got one for 'spares' ;o) .. So just need a CISS for that, seen a combo package on Joys website .. Now, I know a couple of people, that have various bits and pieces from them, (sewing machine, iron, and god know what else) and they've been spot on with everything .. anybody got opinion on them? ... Not sure if I'm 'allowed' to post their link but if you google JSM DISTRIBUTOR it's not that difficult to find, their combo comes in at around £400 inc vat & delivery .. Then all I need to do is to figure out what paper to use for what! :/ It all seemed so simple when it was just an 'idea' ...

Thanks for your help,
Andy

I ordered an ex demo machine from Joys, and it never turned up when I phoned they said the container had not arrived, when i asked why was that relevant because we bought an ex demo they didnt have a clue, i asked for a refund and am still waiting for that as well, so im £400 out of pocket and ended up buying an usa built press second hand instead.

I'm sure I would get told off I answered with the first words that came in my head, so the polite answer is 'never again'

Hi Andy,
I have been involved with sublimation for quite a few years now and have set up 2 different companies with sublimation packages. I always go to xpres for my hardware. Not always the cheapest but always reliable and very good quality. You can also lease if you want. As for blanks, again xpres, listawood, the transfer press, magic touch all the usual suspects that everyone seems to use. If you are wanting to press all the things you have said you will need a few different presses and this will eat into your budget.
I hope this helps.
Mark

Hi Mark, Thanks, I was thinking of visiting xpres this week.

I've got a combo heat press (cheap chinese one, but I went and collected it from the guy), and a few bits and piecies to sublim onto, I took delivery of my ciss this morning, so as soon as the real 'works' done, I can have a play around, done some t-shirts with garment vinyl on the press and they seem spot on ... so fingers crossed the mug, plate and cap attachment are the same ...
