Hey all,
Well ive been printing for about 6 months now and today had my first customer come back to saying they are not happy.
His t shirts look kind of twisted, the left side seam is pulling around to his waist about 3 inches while the right seam is pulling around to the back, I completly agree with the customer that there is a quality issue, and I wouldnt be happy with the finished product either.
Now, ive always used the same supplier for my mens blanks, and they have always been fine.
I like to keep a little bit of stock in, so these particualr tee shirts would have been ordered a while ago, and of course now they have been printed on, and now I want to ask the company for replacement shirts.
Thing is, are they going to try tell me I should have checked every shirt within a couple of days to make sure everything was fine, or that they cannot replace anything after ive printed on it.
Personally, I dont have time to be checking things for quality issue (surly this is their job?)
What would you more experienced people being doing in this situation.
On a side note, This has wasted my time, not to mention the vinyl cost for the last print run plus the next run, in fact after everything is sorted out and the customer is happy I suspect I wont have made a pound profit, should I be taking this up with the T shirt supplier or is this a cost that I have take on the chin?
not had this problem with t shirts, but with bears, we went back to the supplier who replaced all the faulty ones, we used had to wear the cost of the time and embroidery, was not a large job though. I'm not sure where you would stand trying to get your costs back, I would try the softly softly with the supplier first and see what you get,
Well, my supplier didnt want a bar of it.
They said as I purchased these back in July 30th 09, and that they had been printed there was nothing they could do.
I tried explaining that they looked fine until they had been washed and that it was a clear manufactoring problem but they still wouldnt budge.
Should I try calling trading standards?
Ive clearly been sold faulty goods and there is nothing the supplier will do.
You need to check their terms and conditions. Most suppliers will not take anything back if you have printed them and most suppliers mention that in their terms and conditions. So legally you cannot do anything.
Also this is going a long way back I don't think any supplier will help you here unless you are their biggest customer then they might help you in your next order or so....or offer discount etc.
But did they follow the care label when they washed them??
if your customer did not read the label, and they distorted then the blame lies with them! they can not come back to you and say it your problem for them not paying attention, and on that grounds your supplier has no reason to replace them for you.
If these people are a regular customer then its worth doing a good will gesture and coming to some arrangement about producing more shirts, otherwise as far as I see it they have no grounds for complaint.
Some t-shirts with side seams do twist a little after washing, Gildan and Hanes both do t-shirts with no side seams, they are a tubular construction with a turn already in them so they don't twist.
