It all takes time, months maybe, Google doesn't like exchanged links, one way links are better regarded.

Exactly what i was going to say, you are wasting your time with recipricol linking as google is looking for one way links.

In order to rank you need to really know how google works so i will give a quick overview of linking just incase you don't.

Basically google ranks a page on many factors (keywords etc) but i will just talk about linking.

Once google has looked at the keywords etc it will then look into how many sites you link to and how many sites link to you, based off this it can look and see which sites are reciprical links, generally these will cancel each other out in terms of improving ranking, although if someone like the BBC were to link to you and you link back the link from the BBC would carry some weight.

In general though google will say "this site has 1000 other sites linking to it, it is popular, i will rank it higher than that site with similar content but only 10 links".

This is a simplistic way to look at it, but generally google see links as a boost in popularity.

Ok Thanks for your help.

I've read so much stuff about it and i don't know what to believe and what not. Nothing seems to change with my ranking. I don't know if I'mgoing to have to pay someone for help with my SEO or NOT. My site is first if you google my site but if you search graphic tshirts or anything else related to tshirts it's no where to be seen.

I don't know if this is the write place to ask this.
I've been looking at alot of sites for keywords and alot of the first 3 or 4 pages of google the sites quote tshirt about 20 to 40 time which is about 25% of there word count. I read somewhere that it had to be arounf 5% otherwise it was seen as spamming.
Is it just because the websites have been around longer they can get away with it. or it this not true

Google's aim is to provide the best search results for it's users.
A link is seen as a vote for the site. If you try to game the system by using reciprocal links, Google sees that and recognises it for what it is.
Write some articles, though Google is pretty smart about millions of similar articles on different sites.
Your signature may carry some weight, though many forums use a 'no-follow' tag which remove the passing of pagerank to the link, I don't know what Rodney does?
You should have two links in your signature and use words or phrases that you would like to be found in Google with...
