hi peeps im intent on purchasing a package this week and want an epson wide format printer with the bulk cis system to start producing some images for my label!!!(i cannnt wait)lol

But after extensive research on here im still kind of baffled as to any good sites to order a suitable wide format printer from AND a cis system, i dont want to rush and get the wrong product and have any hassle with wanting to change it so id really appreciate any hneads up from anyone who has ordered from any sites on the net , many thanx,

Weve just got a 1400 and would like to know which route you went with CIS and ink, if you dont mind

Try Advanced Inkjet Systems.
I use them for my CIS and bulk ink and they are very good.

CASIOG1: How wide are you planning on going?
Alot of people are using the Epson 4450 A2, this can be used with a bulk feed kit or use once cartridges

I'm thinking of buying an Epson 4450, so sorry for being a thicky, but what is CIS?
And does anyone have any advice on a RIP for it, to be used with Mac OSX?

CIS = Continuous ink system. Plastic bottles filled with ink that sit beside the printer and connect to the cartridges via flexible tubing. Only worthwhile if you are doing a lot of printing though.

On the 4450 printer the inks aren't kept alongside the printers like on the smaller 1400's and similar. They have blank refillable cartridges that look the same as the epson standard cartridges, they can be topped up via a funnel. So there is no problem pulling ink through tubes from separate bulk feed kits.

There are profiles available for macs

How large of a print do you want? Are you doing heat transfer or sublimation? The Epson 1400 will allow you to print up to 13" x 19" paper and you can use a bulk ink system. The Epson 4880 will allow you to print 17" x 22" sheet paper. If you are doing sublimation you can use 17" wide roll paper.

We're not getting anywhere here people!

Epson 1400 is an A3 printer, this is not wide format.

The Epson 4450 is A2, this is where wide format starts.

Has anyone, running Mac OSx system, actually bought one of these printers & a RIP, and is capable of running colour separated film positives, through say Adobe Illustrator?

If you have, your feedback would be most appreciated & might go some start to dispel some myths on the subject!
