i'm in the process of negotiating with a screen printer in the states who is willing to send me over as many as I want.
All he wants is $3.00 a tee and I pay the shipping.
I checked on the US Postal site and for 100 tees I'm guessing is roughly 25Kg in weight that would cost $200.00 to ship to the UK.
So excluding customs tax (if there is any) I think it works out at about $5.00 for a blank tee which I think is ok.
i'm also considering just having this guy do my screenprinting for me and then just ship them.
Does anyone else in the UK do this?
Just wondering if it is a hassle or worth my while
thanks
I could easily use Gildan as we did in our 1st season but at the end of the day I wouldn't put on anything I wouldn't be prepared to wear myself.
Since I was a kid I have never liked tees where the sleeves are so wide you could take off. That might just be me but it has stuck with me.
Gildan material is ok but the cut is really bad whereas AAA sleeves are narrow and dont stick out a mile.
I also dont like the neck on Gildans and the double stitching around the collar. haha I might just be picky but I've still got a few designs from our past seasons using Gildan and although I wear them after you have worn AAA for so long why settle for second or fifth best
if you are importing from the states you need to factor tax, take price of shirts & shipping and add 12% then add Vat to that, adds quite a lot per shirt! also you are better of shipping smaller ammounts eg 2 boxes of 50 rather than 100 at once as can work out cheaper.

I agree with you flappy arms and wide neck bands are my worst enemy. And AAA are great t-shirts. But you might want to try Gildans new softstyle they are a lightweight t-shirt with an American Apparel style cut. You can get them for £1.00 each in the UK. Or get them DTG printed with us which is much better than screen printing and you will still be under the £5.00 each.
Anvil have a wide neck band you will not like them.
t-shirts are always going to vary in style...i've tried lots of samples and every customer is different. Whilst i might not like a baggy t-shirt, 1000 other customers do. It's each to their own and your not going to please everyone with your style.
If however, you don't like the Gildan heavyweight t-shirt, simply because it's too baggy in places, and i understand what you mean, then you have to realsie that gildan is the number 1 selling shirt in the states, and those people tend to be slightly larger than the average UK customer, and it's obviously a style tailored for this market.
I've purchased continental before (a brand alot of people rave about), and being an XL, size i found their XL shirt near skin tight on me. I hated the fit, and felt suffercated wearing it...i needed 2 sizes larger to feel any comfort, and this was their regular style t-shirt. Secondly, all t-shirts these days seem to be tubular, with the loss of the seams at the sides...i don't particularly like it, and felt it makes the shirt alot more baggier...but for some reason brands are all going for this at present...not sure about AAA...
Also, all these shirts are promotional t-shirts...most are manufactured for a more loose fit, so allowing more movement...they aren't the kind that you can expect to re-sell for over £10.00 to end user...they aren't fashionable shirts, and if you want a more fitted fashionable shirt then you have to expect to pay a premium.
If you are seeking a t-shirt with better arms & neck, maybe it would be wise to sample fiited tees, in the gildan/fruit of the loom or other branded range. These are more structured t-shirts and look slightly more stylish.
