Hi, I’m Adam. This is my first post here so please be gentle.
I’ve been thinking about selling some of my designs online for a while. Cafepress looks good, but when I ordered something from them it took weeks to reach me in the UK and I got stung by the import duties! Obviously, I don’t want my UK customers to have the same experience.
I’ve done some digging and come across CreativeCraving.co.uk that seems to offer the same service as Cafepress, but in the UK. They also offer direct to garment printing. Has anyone else heard of them or used them before?
I’ve had a look at Spreadshirt, but despite having a .co.uk website they seem to be based in Germany not the UK. Also, as far as I can tell, they don’t use direct to garment printing. You need to vector all your designs and can only have up to 3 colours per design. It’s free to open a Creative Craving shop so I’m going to give them a try and see how I get on - just wondered if anyone had heard of them before I did so.
Hi
I'm in the same position, half-way through looking at Spreadshirt but trying to find other ways of getting my designs out there. Hadn't come across Creative Clothing before so I'm going to take a peek. Would be interested to know how you get on. I have trawled through the forum threads for Spreadshirt on this site and found nothing too bad, apart from not making as much money if you'd produced them yourself.
Have avoided CafePress because of USA base but noone talks about others - Spreadshirt and CafePress appear to be the big 2 or have I missed something.
Anyway good luck
I got on fine, thanks. The shop setup process was quick & easy and there were a number of options that let you customise the shop’s look & feel. Uploading my designs to multiple products wasn’t a problem as they have a copy function (very handy) as well as a pricing tool that lets you set your commission rates (shop-wide by product) in a few clicks. I’m going to see how it goes but certainly worth taking a look at.
If you want to go with Spreadshirt you have to remember 1 thing. If you register in the UK then you won't be able to sell to the US & Canada (but can sell to most of Europe and a few other countries). If you register in the US (which I have done) then you can sell to both the US and Europe. The costs are cheaper in the US for the products (which vary between Europe and the US) but the postage costs to outside the US have gone up lots very recently. It all depends on who you want to sell to.

Or you can open a shop in both the U.S. and UK. Then have your home page show two buttons 1. U.S. buyers. 2. UK buyers.
You can certainly open a store for both regions but the cost of doubled, the range of clothing different and the technical rules concerning the files submitted are interpreted slightly differently. For some people it's worth doing, I find it a bit too much hassle.
Hi I'm Colin - my first post too.
I've been with Creative Craving about 3 weeks, placed my first order last Tuesday evening, got a despatched email Wed. afternoon arrived by post 9.30 this morning(Sat). The print quality is great really clean and crisp. I've been with CafePress over 2 years, and Zazzle for 1 year but suffer with the usual time and tax problems. Also because I put a load of designs (64) up quickly at CC they offered me a discount on all orders through my shop for a month - which I hope may pull in some customers. Downside it's small at the moment, not too many people know about it. Upside it's small at the moment, not much competition. Hope that's of interest.
By the way I'm surprised no one mentioned Zazzle - that's the quickest way to get a design on a lot of products as the customer chooses the type of shirt and colour (about 250 combinations I think).
I've just used crestive craving for the first time and they were excellent. Very helpful, great printing and speedy delivery. Now I just have to work out how to get some customers!
Hi Tim
Welcome to the forum, I've only been here for a few days myself.
I know what you mean about getting customers. I e-mailed a "News Release" about my new shop to everyone in my address book and asked if they would pass it on to anyone they thought might be interested. I had some folks looking ( you can tell by the order of the designs in your shop which ones are most viewed) but no sales through the shop yet.
My first order with Creative Craving was for a local customer and they were over the moon with it.
Like your designs by the way.
Regards
Colin
