Discuss the fun task of marketing a t-shirt shop. Where to advertise, local marketing tips, word of mouth, press releases, search engine marketing, keyword advertising, magazines, etc.
For our clothing line we make our products to order, so we collect 50% upon ordering, and the balance upon delivery. For customers in good standing, we collect 100% upon delivery.

I like to work out these kind of deals with individual clients. I find some are okay with paying up front and others are willing to pay after I ship, which I find a lot riskier
This will be my first sale.My cousin owns a small retail shop and agreed to purchase 60 t-shirts.
In the real world would I collect a deposit up front, have retailer pay everything up front or pay
on delivery.
I would appreciate anyhelp for the future Thanks

Retailers usually ask for a NET 30, NET 60, or NET 120. But it depends on the agreement between you and the retailer. You may feel some stores should only get 30 days to pay after receiving their merchandise while you give others 60 days.
Since it's your cousin, you might have more room to negotiate.
Family is funny. If your family is business oriented, then they know to pay you, like they pay everybody else. Family also can pay back, whenever, because, you are, Family. To follow in the same tune, business people who like to gossip a lot, blame everything on the economy, the local big factory laid off lots of people, that type of stuff, are slow to pay, and I have found they and you are better off to do business together, when times are better.
