Default Coupon Discount

Hello,

We are trying to make up our minds regarding our coupon discount logic. We can create a Free Shipping Discount (shipping is $5) or reduce the price of our t-shirts from 29 to 24. Both of them mean the same to us, profit wise, but we want to know which one sounds like a better deal!!!
Please let us know what do you think.

Thanks,
Lish

Both of them do not mean the same profit wise unless everything you ship costs you $5.

Reducing the cost of your shirt by $5 means you really are losing $5. Offering free shipping on a single shirt means you are losing $2.

I've mentioned this in a prior thread; Everything else being equal, offering free shipping on a $29 item will sell more units than offering a $24 item plus $5 shipping.

The word "Free" with shipping (or anything else) works wonders.

I agree with Joe . Free shipping is a big incentive and it is better not to discount the value of your brand/worth. Customers always respond positively to getting something for nothing and it is always a pain to see extra costs on top of what you have determined to pay for an item.
It is also difficult to put the price of your product back up without having a negative impact on your customers.
