Talking Need help with name

I need help comeing up with a shirt brand name. The problem is that I don't want to be limited to a specific thing. I want a name that can be used for anything. Like hurley, my favorite brand. Hurley can be anything, you can make it about skaters, bikers, spiders, ect. please help me come up with a name.

How about the street name where you were born? If that doesn't work, how about your favourite dog's name followed by the word street or road? In my case this would make Shifty Street which I think would not be best for a reputable clothing line.........

I think the street name approach is a great idea

But still you can try it in another way:

Collect information about your target group. Maybe your potential customers belong to a certain generation or a certain music genre. Then you can try to find names that sound similar to names that are popular and have been successfull in this target group (I don't mean to hurt copyrights). Another thing to consider is the probability that people will pronounce it wrong. You wanna make it easy for people to talk about your brand. So it's gotta be not too long and has to have a simple spelling.
And at the end, do a lot of brainstorming and always keep your eyes open for ideas everyday.

If Hurley had not been successful, critics might have blamed part of its failure on an uninspired name.

Use your last name like Bob Hurley did. It worked for him.

Remember that the surf industry has always been about heavily promoting the image, not the identity of the brand. Core promotion is always the sponsorship of cool surfers willing to pimp your stuff for bucks.

You can take all the Hurley t-shirt designs, remove the name Hurley and stick them on an unknown brand and they wouldn't sell at all. It's never the art, always the image.

Remember that Hurley started as a hard-core, surf brand and the initial success of the brand in that niche helped it to reach beyond that.

I think if you need to ask for help on a forum your not involved enough yourself,

Try getting stuck into your label, research subjects/lifestyles you want your label to represent, start a blog to group everything you want your brand to be...i bet a brand name will just come naturaly to you

When you do your first interview, do you realy want the answer to "where did your name come from?" to be as bland as "i asked for one from a forum of people who dont know me"?

Trust yourself
