Discuss the fun task of marketing a t-shirt shop. Where to advertise, local marketing tips, word of mouth, press releases, search engine marketing, keyword advertising, magazines, etc.
1) Add value - share interesting or useful info, blogs (others as well as your own) etc
2) Always respond to peoples @ messages
3) Avoid political, religious and other subjects which people will find offencive
4) Big followers - does not mean many listeners - the RTs tell that story
5) Change your BIO regularly
6) Don't expect Twitter to deliver revenue alone, it is only ONE element of the strategy
7) Even an attentive follower won't read all your messages
8) Follow people who are in your field or area of interest
9) Follow the advice of people that have demonstrated competence - not think they know how to...
10) FollowFriday send a message saying why people should follow them

As mentioned in another thread, one big tip for Twitter is that it can be what you make it
Some of the above tips won't be good for some people and they may be perfect for others.
For example, I personally wouldn't recommend:

5) Change your BIO regularly
I don't really see a need for that.
Or:
Quote:
16) If you are going to auto DM only send a welcome message
I wouldn't recommend auto-DMs at all. I personally don't think they serve any value to the person receiving it and more often than not they annoy people.
There's no real rulebook when it comes to Twitter.
Our fearless leader raises 2 good but debatable points and is entitled to his opinion.
I believe there are ways to appropriately auto DM those who choose to follow you. Here are a few reasons:
1) If they are following you for the right reasons (to learn more about you and enjoy your tweets) why would they be against a little bit more information about/from you?
2) If they are following you for other reasons (to get you to follow back) they should have no complaints about a little message from you..
3) All DMs are not evil. If they were, Twitter would not have included the feature. But if you message people with only selfish interests, can you expect anything other than complaints?
In fact, in the auto DM service I use, they specifically state when you create your auto DM text that it should not be about you, but rather about the person you are messaging. So, as you continue forth on your path of tweeting and begin to send auto DMs, please keep in mind that they should be useful to the recipient, not just to you.
I don't believe there is anything wrong in, if every time someone follows you they are automatically sent a welcome DM with the message of your choice (in my opinion). Use this at your own risk if you choose to be selfish with your DMs. People like value, give them something they can actually use and they will thank you for it.
As far as changing your bio regularly goes, you don't have to and yes maybe it's not neccessary. I put it in there cos i know of a few people that use them to give tips of the day, funny quotes, interesting facts etc, to great effect. I love visiting to see what todays message is and can be really funny or interesting.
Lets not forget, Twitter gives you a chance to show off your PERSONALITY!!!!!!
Finding funny little ways to do so keeps people smiling, re-tweeting and relationship building and there is nothing wrong with that.
Like Rodney said in his post there is no rulebook, what works for one may not for the other and vice versa but i definitley wouldn't say don't try something. It's diiferent for every sinlge person and only by trial and effor will you find out what works for you and what doesn't.
