Discuss the fun task of marketing a t-shirt shop. Where to advertise, local marketing tips, word of mouth, press releases, search engine marketing, keyword advertising, magazines, etc.
Hey everybody. I've been toying around with the idea of getting some yellow pages adds. It seems like a lot of money just to get into the yellow pages and I'm not sure how much business I'll get from it. On one hand I need to do more marketing in my area (but maybe that could be done cheaper with flyers , I'd also be able to hit smaller markets harder with flyers) I think it may also be nice just to have your name in there with the competition. On the other, it's way cheaper to just market on the internet. I know I want to take as many marketing avenues as I can just to get my name out, but is the money worth it? Does anyone use the phonebook anymore? Can anyone tell some stories about their yellow pages experiences and what kind of business they get from that advertising technique?

We are dropping our yellow pages ad when it comes up for renewal. We have 3 business lines so we will get the regular line listing and that's all we are going to use. We are established though so don't know what your current status is in your area.
Most people do searches on the internet or use look up assistance on their cell. Believe me, I'm looking forward to an extra $200+ a month that I can spend on other business promotions.
I can't remember the last time I looked at the Yellow Pages for anything. I think they don't get looked at from when they arrive to the next one arrives. The internet has taken it's place and of course Google is the main reason for this. I'd save your money and use it in other, better, ways.
