Default Targeting Non-Profit Events for Custom Tees

So, I'm trying to brainstorm some marketing ideas for my custom tee business. There are so many "walks" and events that go on locally where people get together with a team to participate. I think a good idea would be to target these organizations, but more importantly the "team leaders" to get them to make t-shirts made for the event. I would like to donate either a percentage or even $1 per shirt or 50 cents per shirt to the organization or cause. My question to you is, who do i talk to first, how do I get a hold of them and how should i pitch my idea? Should I ask if I can put an ad on their home page, or if they will just recommend me to their participators? Also, how much should i donate? I mean $1 a shirt, seems reasonable - most teams are 10-50 people, i would assume. And this seems nice, but won't dip too much into my profit, right?

How do you make a profit with a 10 shirt order? What about teams of 2 or 4?

If you look at pictures for the various events, most notably the Susan G. Komen Race/Walk, 99% of the participants are wearing the tee the organizer provides. That seems like a more lucrative market to target than the multiple 10 shirt orders.

Some teams want custom tees, but the other poster is right in saying that most people wear the official gear. Contact the event's sponsor and see if you can become their supplier.

One of the local alzheimer's facilities called me and asked me to design a shirt for their team for the yearly walk. The theme was "WALK". I didn't even know that there was a contest and the shirts got 2nd place.
I would contact facilities similar to this and see if they will be participating in any events that they will need shirts for.
Good Luck
