Discuss the fun task of marketing a t-shirt shop. Where to advertise, local marketing tips, word of mouth, press releases, search engine marketing, keyword advertising, magazines, etc.
What are your guys/girls opinions of having a "coming soon" section with pictures and whatnot of upcoming items? For example I know SilverStar has a section like this on their site. Just a seperate page on your site from your main online store. Asking from the perspective of a new and unproven brand.
My thoughts would be that it would be a negative, as people may choose to "wait" and buy the new stuff if they like it better if they have limited funds, and it may kill the "wow" factor when the products actually hit.
On the flip side, if you are trying to approach retail companies and outlets, it will show them upcoming products of yours and show you are standing behind a new brand.
Re: "Coming Soon" sections of an online retail site?
I would say you should clearly show that you are looking into new designs, to show that you are active in the production, just merely say 'Be sure to check back VERY soon with our NEW design ****'. Putting the pictures up depends on how far along the designing production is and what the available option for t-shirts are, if you only have 1 design then dont show the second one. If you already have 10 shirts in production, then showing it may be a good idea!
I would also like to add that naming your designs is a great idea, 'The all new '****' coming to you soon' has some kick about it!
Re: "Coming Soon" sections of an online retail site?
he already has 7 printed shirts (5 guys, 2 girls) and 2 hats. He has an upcoming 6 guy shirts and 4 girls shirts to be printed in the next 3-4 months, and has all the artwork, mockups, etc on them done. Just waiting for more cash to free up before he pulls the trigger. He asked me about putting up a coming soon section on the site, we went over the pros and cons, and I decided to see what your guys opinions would be.
Re: "Coming Soon" sections of an online retail site?
Well in that case, he should put a few of the designs up on the upcoming section and then also say something like 'these and 3 more designs to come', then they have a taster, and a surprise. Make sure you say 'keep checking back for stock' though!
Re: "Coming Soon" sections of an online retail site?
If you put anything in a coming soon section, make sure they really are coming soon. I find it very irritating when I have to wait on something I am interested in for too long. I lose interest in the entire website and most often will not return.
Re: "Coming Soon" sections of an online retail site?
how about instead of "coming soon"......
put "new designs coming this Fall Season" or "Spring Season" or "Summer Season"...... or maybe "New Lines Coming this May"...or "coming this June"...etc.....
and then add some photos of those new designs......
and i suggest you don't put it on a separate page... just put in on a side bar...
just a thought.
