I'm wanting to do a simple monthly newsletter to a pretty small group, probably around 100 recipients that I already have. What do the services such as Constant Contact offer that I can't do myself? All I'm aware of is that I would create an email and then send it to my distribution group. I have cubecart which is capable of managing my email addresses and can also send out the emails for me.

Would a paid service be of any value for my purposes?

opt in/out i think they have to confirm to receive newsletters....... so if they forget to click the option each time you might lose that customer....


i use constant contact and i can tell you that their templates are worth shyt.... if you do a test preview and then email it to yourself it will be different each time..... i have a hotmail account and a business account... all three were different... from text fonts/sizes/centering/etc......

it was later that i learned a few html coding things and there is an option to tweek the code in html.... YOU HAVE TO DO THAT... for some reason the options/editting block on the left doesnt add the codes.......

after about 15 hours of figuring things out, i recoded a few things and i'm good now.......

i still use them...but was frustrated in the beginning..... the catcher is that they "offer" html service for a fee...... so i wonder if that is how they sucker a few more bucks from you since their templates are wacked....

thankfully, I know html and we hand code each email we send out. They look great. Also, make sure you put each email though a spam filter to make sure they won't get bounces. We also use an open source "constant contact" type program that works really well and is FREE!!
