Default link anchor text

Hi,

I am try to do some SEO on my own. One thing that come up quite often is link and the importance of the right anchor text. I notice some people's signature in the forum use anchor text like Tshirt Forum instead of typing the whole www.t-shirtfourm.com. Can you guys tell me how to do that. I try just putting the <a href=<A href="http://www.jointhemash.com">mashPotato</a"></a> of html in but it doesnt show up.

Also, if I am asking other to exchange links, do I give them that same code as the one that is being use here?

Thanks alot

I wouldn't get too caught up in anchor text. The main goal is to hopefully create a site that people will want to link to. Your anchor text might give you a small benefit, but probably not enough to worry about.

You can't use HTML in the forum, so to create a link, you would use the BB code for creating links.

You don't have to give anybody the code to link to your site. Most webmasters know how to create a link on their websites
