Discuss the fun task of marketing a t-shirt shop. Where to advertise, link building, word of mouth, press releases, search engine marketing, keyword advertising, magazines, etc.
Posted under the Flickr DON'Ts: Use Flickr for Commercial Purposes Flickr is for personal use only. If you sell products, services or yourself through your photostream, we will terminate your account. Any other commercial use of Flickr, Flickr technologies (including APIs, Flickrmail, etc), or Flickr accounts must be approved by Flickr.
Just asking. If you got Flickr approval, would you tell us about the process?
Thanks,
Flickr is a new program by Yahoo and it is free to join. It takes 5-7 days for your items to show up and I have had people view my website from flickr.
It shows up on my tracking. As far as sells goes I can't tell if a purchase was through a flickr search because of the way my page reports. Don't pass up any opportunty to advertise your products people.
I did I mention it's FREE
Take a look around flickr and you will see for yourself that hundreds of people are using it to advertise. If people like your website they will bookmark it and maybe buy when they get a chance to. I like it and it is easy to use.
Now I'm really confused.
I've had an account on Flickr for a month or so, just because I like to hear what people have to say about my photos, and to look at other folk's pics. When I upload a photo it shows up instantly, not in 5-7 days.
So Dave, I'm thinking you must have a different type of Flickr account? Is there a commercial Flickr account?

No I don't I could not find my pics and it said that it may take 5-7 days for you item(s) to be loaded. All I did was posted some of my t-shirts and added my link to the discription. That is different from just posting my website.

Your photos may show up instantly for you but try and do a search for them after you upload one. Thats what I did and could not find them for a week.
If you do it the way I did then you'll have no problem.
I don't think that's correct according to the way their terms of service read.
They seem to be pretty clear about not using their photo hosting service for advertising.

As I mentioned, just because people are doing it, doesn't make it OK. It's likely they just haven't been caught yet.
can someone explain how this pertains to selling tshirts or promoting a website? I went to yahoo but could not figure out way all the fuss?
Please help.

Reason: removed url as per forum guidelines
And I've definitely heard of them enforcing this bit:

Others have content that, while created for commercial purposes, is, in my opinion (flickr's opinion may differ), fine (for example you might upload the photos from your model shoot to your flickr page). The original post is a good example of something that isn't fine.

If you're not adverse to spamming, it's another community site you could use to promote your site until you get caught.
If you are adverse to spamming, it's another community site you could join and participate in, and as a consequence get some limited natural traffic to your site as a byproduct.
