Discuss the fun task of marketing a t-shirt shop. Where to advertise, local marketing tips, word of mouth, press releases, search engine marketing, keyword advertising, magazines, etc.
Have an idea for a shirt design but it deals with a parody with a news station. since they are either national and/or public (lets say nbc-cbs or channel 4 local news) can I use their logo in the design to push a point they are "publishing"? ....yes..this is a political statement, any direction or comments?...just curious. thanks
Station logos are trademarked, so using them would be infringement. If you use them, you could get sued. You can claim parody as your defense, but there are no guarantees that it would help. It's probably best to steer clear.

If station logos are protected, then how does one station get away with displaying all of the other station logos during their reporting...
Aren't they reporting news to their veiwers for financial gain...or do they play commercials just because they want to?
Our legal system has drawn the lines, and the merit of content determines what is considered infringement or not. The primary purpose of the news is to share information. The primary purpose of a t-shirt is to be clothing. The use of registered marks on clothing is considered infringement, the use of registered marks to share information is not.

That explains it much better, but one could argue they aren't wearing the shirt for clothing, rather their primary reason is to share information contained on the print.

Thanks, if you think about it...that really is why printed Tees are so popular...it's not because people want to wear a t-shirt, but it's what is printed on it...must be a good business to be in

T-shirts are hardly a recognized form of sharing information. What is printed on a t-shirt is just a novel way to sell a t-shirt, not a novel way to share information.
