with some companies/jobs, nothing goes out without wash and other tests. Too much to lose.... like a good client.

big surprise...I had not used Transfer Express but had seen/used their demo graphic..nicely done but when I went on to order..just 15 sheets, the minimum to see how they worked in real like, I have two images ganged on 11x11 sheet and the price per sheet is over $9. Damn I can have a local screen printer do it for $1.75....so guess who is not going to approve the order and cancel? First Edition was only 3.68 or so per sheet...big difference

Yeah TE is mucho expensive, but their transfers are top notch. I feel I'm comfortable enough in my skills now though, that I don't need to pay 3x as much for a dummy-proof transfer.

'comfortable enough in my skills now'...my wife and I have been diligently practicing for some 4 months now. We had down to Dowling and TransferExpress but we just can't seem to get transfers of any company to be as nice as TransferExpress. How much more practice can we do? Should we keep at it or is it simply TransferExpress makes the very best transfers and they charge you for it? The only other vendor to consistently come off decent was FM Expressions but we didn't like the feel and while I know it seems to be people's favorites around here...God help me if I can get First Edition to work.

Never used Dowling, but First Edition transfers work beautifully

I just spent 4K at Instagraph in LA. Got my designs done "Litho" prints. Not bad, a little plasticy, but colors have no punch. Anyone know about these litho prints? Not sure if its this type of decal, or if the sales person there didn't listen to a word I said when I talked to her about the colors I was after. I need to find a place closer to NYC.
THese are cold peel. Is this litho just another name for Plastisol?

A lithograph transfer is a different type of plastisol transfer. It was more commonly used in the 70's. If you search the forums for lithograph, you'll see some posts describing it in more detail.

T-Bot knows more about lithograph plastisol transfers.

Understanding the variables is key in ordering transfers. My First Edition opaque white transfers for blk shirts worked fine but were cold peel. Cold peel renders a very thick plasticy result. This was not exactly the softer look and feel I wanted. I have used hot peel and hot split transfers on darks with great results and the cold peel left me in a quandry. I did some tests using them as hot peel and finally got the look I wanted. I am glad I ordered extras as you could hold them up to the light and see which ones had enough ink to actually work as hot peel.
