you know... it all depends on how you want the transfers to look & feel.

uses photographic images altered in photoshop so we want a realistic as possible image without the hardness of plastisol or the cost of mega silkscreen.
Yes,m I paid a hefty price for the minimums, but I have rockin transfers of my designs and do not have to warehouse shirts, hoodies, etc. Just the transfers and order the apparel accordingly.

Airwaves: Propaque Plus.
They are wonderfully soft however there is a minimum of 300.

You and me both!!! i've emailed them 3 times and have tried calling twice, it's been a month and so far no respond emails, and the 2 times i called all it did was ring. I'm beginning to think they're not in business, even though i saw there ad in a recent magazine. Bummer

RPL is in business.. but I think they do lots of trade shows.
When I order online, I get better service.
But ... all I order form them now is the dark shirt transfer paper.
I am sure you can find this elsewhere for a competitive price.

Here is a quick question I receieved my first kind of large retail order and I have never disclosed that I am a heat press shop versus a traditional screener...which company offers the most traditioanl screen feel of the the loy you all use. I am an Ace User but I am afraid this customer is not going to get they beauty of the double hot split.

I've never used Ace so I can't compare. I use F&M's fashion formula and its a bit shiny when it first goes on, being so smooth; but after a wash it looks and feels like a quality screenprint with a soft hand. I have samples from various other transfer makers, many are good but I wouldn't say any of them are better than what I've been buying from F&M. No transfer will match the soft hand of waterbase or discharge though.

OK.. here is what the queen has discovered over the past year of agonizing over whether the silk screen or heat press or just GIVE IT UP!!!!
For a 300 minimum Airwaves is the BEST!!!!
For a moderate amount of stock I have recently been doing business with Transfer Express in Ohio.
I love their hot split transfers, although maybe a bit pricey the first time around, however, once in their data base your repeat order design becomes a regular order and much more affordable.
The amount of colors with determine the cost of the print. I have calculated this to be the same as silk screen process. The advantage is I am stocking the transfers only, not the garment printed stock,=
you print as needed and stock blank garments.

OH.. my experience with F & M has not been good. Poor communication and slow response.
Transfer Express is exceptionally responsive.
(no I do not work for them!!)

Judging by the loyalty expressed on these forums it seems that many of the main companies, Dowling, Transfer Express, Ace, F&M, Versatranz are very competent.

F&M is slow replying to emails but I don't do many rush orders so if I don't get an answer until the end of the day it makes no difference. If I need an instant answer I just pick up the phone and call, never had any delay via telephone.

Transfer Express is nice for the dealer kit they send out which is convenient if you don't do your own designs or if you travel a bit. Their transfers seem idiot proof but their prices are very high and based on the samples they sent, I can't justify paying the price.

Compare cost minimums of F & M soft touch (hot peel) transfers to Transfer Express. Transfer E. call back is end of day here for us Californians. The difference is that they call back!
Let me know how it comes out!

Okay, transfer costs for three jobs, rounded to the nearest dollar...

            F&M                TE
job1        $38                $105
job2        $40                $123
job3        $190              $unknown*

Now, jobs 1&2 can be ganged on the same sheet because they are the same color, my actual cost from F&M will be around $40, but my ganged cost from TE would be $227. These are TE PLUS prices right out of the book.

Jobs 1&2 are single color jobs, Job 3 is a full color + 2 color job, TE has no pricing in their book for full color. F&M prices are current, TE prices are as of Feb '08.

VERY INTERESTING !!!!
Thanks for doing the math.
When I was comparing costs, for the "soft hand" hot peel,
I calculated them to be the similar and went with TE because F & M did not offer the soft hand in what I wanted.
Their product is more thick & plastic like.
If you know differently, please be so kind & enlighten me, as F & M could not. I always am up for saving a buck or a hundred!
