Hi Rodney,
This is regarding an old post of yours from last year (that was terrific, thank you) but I was wondering what press you are using and reasons why or why not you would recommend it to a fellow Newbie?
Thanks in advance for your help.

So can you do glow in the dark ink with plastisol transfers??

Also, can you do foil over an existing transfer?

Can you still market plastisol transfer shirts to boutiques? Do they still look high end?

Does anyone know about how much 300 4-color custom transfers by Transfer Express would run per transfer?

I have been screenprinting numbers on 100% and 50/50 tees for a few years, I am looking at using transfers (plastisol) to save time. usually I have to flash white ink on a dark shirt, how well do the transfers do with opacity on dark shirts?

Rodney... I am considering entering this field, I currently do embroidery only and my clients are mainly Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement peeps. Lots of people have been asking about Screen Printing (vs. embroidery) as the price is lower. I saw some heat presses on eBay and though about giving it a try, I have not purchased any yet as my task was than to find someone to do CUSTOM Heat Transfers. 2 days of research got me NOTHING until I found your post. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME!!!! Everything I was looking for and more!!!! I found a new favorite site!!!

There are tons of stock fire, police , ems transfers available as well as companies that can make your custom designs.

Thanks MotoSkin.... I got a couple of samples in the mail, with catalogs... and you are right there's a lot of FIRE/EMS/LE stuff there. Now my search is for someone that can do custom affordable work... some of the prices I've seen is like WOW!!!

One reason I have stayed away from heat transfers is because I have heard from others that they don't last as long. Have you had a chance to wash these a few times? Or even try putting them in the dishwasher for a hard core speed process of washing. (To simulate a lot of runs through a normal washing machine)
Also, how are they with stretch tests?
I am interested to know this about the ones you liked, the "quality" transfers, because this could seriously save me some time. But I want to make sure they last. Anyone tested this?

Plastisol transfers will last as long as screen printed items will. The plastisol transfer is a screen printe design done in reverse, so that when you place it on the shirt it is correct. i use Ace Transfer Company, Inc. for all my ntransfer needs. .....JB

So far I've contacted Versatranz, Transfer Express and F&M. I am pretty sure I contacted First Edition also but if I did I never received a reply.

F&M I had to contact three times asking for samples before they finally mailed them out. The samples did not look as good as the other two companies and were cut crooked with parts of the images cut off. I just tossed them in a pile, didn't even try them. I was very disappointed since their pricing is very good.

Versatranz was very nice and prompt sending the samples. They looked nice and I had no problems pressing them with my Phoenixphire but their pricing is very high.

The Transfer Express package was the most impressive and the transfers looked better than the others. All the transfers worked perfectly except for one which may have been my fault... I think it was a cold peel (athletic) and I tried to hot peel it the first time. I repressed and let it cool and it turned out perfect. TE also has pricing on the high side.

First Edition I want to contact and give a try but I'm a little nervous considering I've read more complaints than positives about their transfers.

I would also like to try Ace as they have receive many positive comments.
