I did answer that below....probably a timing issue.

What I was referring to here was the fact that the cold peels looked very glossy and thick. Kinda like a large piece of printed vinyl. But, since I was new and this was my first vinyl job, I just thought it was normal.

I'd rather have a matt finish and a much softer hand so I was interested in how the cold peels were run like hot-splits.

If spectra is similar to Stahls roll vinyls, they are good quality.

Vinyls are also very, very, very Hard to Crack.

Rodney, get busy with the photos. ...we are all curiously waiting for the Transfer Samples Tester photos.

In a nutshell:

Both are soft matte finishes.

Thermoflex has a sticky mylar backing, Spectra II does not.

Spectra II is a cold peel. I believe thermoflex might be a hot peel???

Thermoflex comes on a 15" wide roll. Spectra II is 19.68" wide.

Spectra II is less expensive per square inch.

Factors such as delivery, yardage increments available, color selection, washability, weedability, durability (on one & two color designs), and opacity should be looked at.

OK, are there any northeastern plastisol suppliers out there? I'd love to find one in a one-day ship.

I've used Ace and Silver Mountain so far but they are two days away (Ace may be 3)

Neither charges a setup fee but Ace gets ya on the ganging. Both have low minimums.

Spectra does not have a sticky mylar backing....that's interesting.
do you know if there is a distributor for Spectra out of Toronto Canada ?

btw. flex comes in 20" width rolls too and can be peeled Hot or Cold.

here is a nice ALICE COOPER Transfer that was made to print on all colors, black etc. , it is a full color transfer but the photo is not that good. This transfer was made by Impulse a few years ago, very good quality, HOT PEEL, don't know if they still have it ??????. It is printed on a Cut up Gildan jersey knit youth size T-Shirt. Very good Quality Plastisol transfer.

I'm waiting on a few more blank t-shirts from Alstyle (I know I should be using scraps, but I like to make my tests as realistic as possible )

Got a PM from Zach Ellsworth from Welcome to fmexpressions.com and he's sending out samples (he's also offering samples to other forum members if you contact him via PM or email).

typical newbie. jk.

they are only samples.... after a few hundred tests you may have a change of heart.

but if that makes a better presentation, go for it.

btw. I'm trying some out soon on BAMBOO/Spandex (stretch) 95/5 fabric... very, very, soft and thin fabric. I think I may just get a roll of it, in Black.

Thanks Josh!!

And, from previous information you provided me, the "stretch" of both Thermoflex and Spectra II should be comparable?

Is it possible to get roll widths slit down to smaller widths for use on smaller cutters??

- for those of you who've done plastisol transfers - what is your testing process like? How many times do you wash the pressed shirt before deciding that it's good and "this is the transfer maker I'm going to go with and I can put this shirt out for sale"

thank u
Sorry to bring this up again, but I thought maybe my question got missed. Anyone wants to share their experience with testing their heat transfers?
