I am using 24" paper in my Roland GX-24 (had it for three days now - making great progress). But one thing we have noticed is, when we load the paper in the machine and then use "get from machine" to size it up, it is always around 18-19 inches. We move the pinch rollers here and there, but it doesn't seem to help.
Also, we noticed that the GX-24 cuts a light margin - I think when it reads the paper when you turn it on. Not a big deal, but I guess you shouldn't move the paper once its been loaded.
Anyone know how to get to actually using 23-24 inches on the machine?

Rodney, I'm using a Corel x-3 and I already download the CorelDraw plug-ins that included on the cutstudio cd, but I don't have the handy dandy cutstudio plug-in button on my corelDraw.

The best brands for vinyl cutters are generally considered to be Roland, Graphtec, and Summa. Any cutter by those companies should do you well and last a long time. For anything more specific than that, it really depends on what sort of features you need.

Twinge, thanks for the info. I went yesterday to Atlanta to the "Great Garment Graphics Paloosa". It was grate. I decided on the Roland qx 24. I haven't bought it yet. But that's my next step.

Rodney, I just bought the Roland GX24 and your post here really helped. That was very well done. I have only done the practice tests. I haven't made a shirt yet from a print from Corel 12. I have a question: When you use the application tape to put over the letters and apply to the shirt, does that tape also get heat-pressed? Does it stick to the shirt? If anyone else has info on this, when transferring cut letters/words, please chime in.

Cynthia...are you using heat press vinyl...or sign vinyl... I use ThermoFlex plus and all I do is mirror print...weed out the excess and since what is left has the plastic carrier on it..it will stay in place on the garment...press for the prescribed time.....in my case 350F for 20 seconds...peel when cool and done and no tape used

The premask (application tape) is built into the product, it stays as one big piece of clear plastic. Maybe you are cutting through that layer with too much plotter pressure?
