I like to have my own domains, if you are selling items it just looks better than having it link to a spreadshirt site, what do we do to get our spreadshirt site on our own domain, do we use rss feed to do that? I have my web template for my site larger than my spreadshirt site so should paste in and my domain ready to upload.
I was wondering how fellow spreadshirt sellers have gone about this? Do you just use rss feed, cant say its something I have done myself, what are the options?
Hi Dean,
Many shop partners style there shops to look like their websites. It takes a little more time, but you can customize the css for your shop.
You can also customize your Spreadshirt URL. My website is IheartPGH.com and my shop is iheartpgh.spreadshirt.com.
Other shop partners have domains just for their shops.
Hope that helps.

Reason: delinked urls
As Lindsay said, many partners will code their shop and their own website to work seemlessly with each other. If you check out our example shops, on the Open a Shop page, then you will see NekkidTees is an example of this sort of coding. Only if you look at the URL can you tell when you are on his site or his Spreadshop.
If you want to have your shop under your domain, then you would have to use IFrames in your website to include the shop on the page. like the other example site, Amorphia Apparel. Under Shops > Linking, we offer IFrame code that has the shop open in a popup window. You can use this method or modify the code to have the shop open on the page in the IFrame.
where do I get the iframes code from, Im sure I had something like this before, I had a video game site and I sold games from another company as an affiliate, I had parts of there site inside a frame in my web site, All I did was copy some code that I got from them into my page, I think this is what you are saying, can I get the code from someplace to paste in.
The code for the shop in the pop up IFrame is provided under Shops > Linking in your Spreadshirt admin. You can copy this code into your site for the popup IFrame integration.
found the code, Ive put it in my web site and it works, thanks for your help
on Lindsay's site I notice her products are 3 products wide same with the amorphia site, nekkidtees is 3 product images wide, can I change how many t-shirts I have in the horizontal, mine are just displaying them one product on the horizontal, in a list, how can we change how many products are displayed horizontally.
here is my test here, its not my propershop or domain yet, just a test. http://174840.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Shop/
as you can see the shop is only 1 product wide and not say 3 or 4 products wide, its just a big list.
Sorry some of these questions are a bit simple but spread shirt does not have a search or a faq showing every question, or any way to look around faqs, from my experience it suggests random faqs at the side of the page, a search option or navigation would be better.

Yes, you can change this. Under Shops > Settings, there is a section titled Shop View with two choices. Detailed is one shirt per row, as you are seeing. Compact is three shirts per row, as the sites you mentioned are set up. You can also adjust how many lines are on each page in this area. The shop width, of 600 and 660 pixels will give you three shirts per row, while the 828 pixel with will give you four shirts per row.
No problem with the questions...happy to help you out and we appreciate the feedback. We do have an FAQ section with various topics that you can check out. The Sell section would deal mainly with shop questions. Our search is temporarily unavailable, as we are working on improving its functions, but it will be available again, soon.
The FAQ can be difficult to read as there is no search for it, or even a just a big list of all the FAQS, its more of finding a FAQ by chance, this will add extra to spreadshirts support being asked the same questions over and over because users cannot find the FAQs, or users posting on forums for standardised questions
To make our shop extra special we want to make it as easy to navigate plus as personal as possible, so getting your own domain name and using iframes to put your store into your own personal web page is great for making an individual store.
I heard somewhere that we can have an extra list, a side bar if you like for links or a list if you like of our product, I'm sure its on the spreashirt site some place, I think you have to paste for code into your web page, basically it allows for a menu bar or list or something, that allows us to have some extra navigation on the site, you could make your own nav bar, but I want to test the one that is with spreadshirt, I'm sure its some code we paste in to our site, has anyone got a link to it, I cant find it on the site, like I say, its very hard finding those FAQs
Create a functional shop layout with user-friendly menus!
Attractive design and user-friendly layouts are the basis for your Spreadshop's success. Usability and speed - the ability for customers to get to the product they want as easily as possible - increase your sales potential. Replace your Shop Name for the Shop Id and your Shop Name will remain in the URL.
Creating a Product Menu
Creating your own menu lets you organize your design and product assortment. By adding a few extra terms to your shop URL, you can show the different designs or product categories (e.g. underwear) offered in your shop. The extra terms are search parameters, so that all the results have either a keyword (search/text]), category (productTypeCategory /category_number) or given ID (design/design_id or category/ category_id) in common.
see link for example http://48574.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Shop/Index/Index/productTypeCategory/2
has the user made the side bar navigation themselves and then just linked it to pages, or is this side bar part of spread sheet, so something we can anable with a check box, or is it some spreadshirt code we just paste into one of our frames on our site.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If spread shirt doesn't do a navigation bar, I could do with finding one, like this example, http://www.avantivitastudios.com/Data/pullout.jpg
you put the mouse over a category and it open up a bar image, so we could go , male, items, then t-shirt, then category of item and then the names of all the t-shirts in that category, the example pic is from a web building program, reason I don't use it is that I would have to edit the html in every page I made in it and it would not be efficient, either spreadshirt does something similar or there are code examples one can edit or some kind of flash button maker or something of the like, its a simple thing, perhaps either spread shirt provide something like it or some of you have some navigation scripts or some sort of tool you use for your sites.

Reason: adding bits
I think this is important, Its off topic from the original but I think it helps for those new to making a site. spreadshirt could do with a free tool that does this, but they dont so we have to find one.
I found out the correct names for the menus.
the correct terms for what I want would be.
first button, static button, next to it another static button, moving mouse over the second static button makes a dropdown menu or (apPopupMenu) mouse over one of those will make a pulldownmenu or (apChoiceMenu)
Its fairly simple, all I need is a tool that one can say how one wants the buttons (static ones, PopupMenu or a pulldownmenu) all the menu makers I have seen are just PopupMenu, I want to choose what menu comes from each button or catagory, its fairy simple thing really, just need a tool that does this.
I want to link my buttons that are not in the iframe, but in a frame to the side to make the iframes content change. Do you know how to do that?
Spreadshirts shop is basic, you cant sell with a flat shop, cafepress is much better for making a shop, but who wants to pay those prices on the flat products. Going iframes and having your own domain is the way to go, plus get some decent buttons and nav bar, just I got to find out how to link the side bar from the frame on my left of my web page to change the content in the middle frame I have my shops iframe in.
what you have to do is build the site in your own web page, then for the actual buy have it link to a page on iframes.
Thats the only way to do it really.
Someone should let you build a web site, like what cafepress does with its premium shop, but be able to host it on your own server, Do that plus have good rates on the product and you would put all the rest out of business period.
I made a site on my own domain and for every product in my Spreadshirt page I would make a product on my domain, with most of the information there linking to my Spreadhshirt page.
To be honest it is a pain in the a$$!
I would like to use the "blog it" option to make some HTML for me automatically, but apparently I can't as my t-shirts are all text only.
I might use the iFrames but am worried about the SEO implications. I will have to check if I can do it anyway with a basic shop package.
I started this t-shirt site with a friend a couple of years ago and never really finished it off. I'm hoping I can do it now and take it seriously this summer!
I really like how you set up the front page of your shop - what did you use to get the images to slide across the page? I also love the argyle shirt - I saw one like it in the production area and I was just asking which shop it was from.
Thanks,
Lindsay
